Blackberry Jam

I think I have finally come to terms with the blackberries. After hacking and grappling and backhoeing and burning 15 plus acres of wild blackberry bramble, I walked out to the few remaining patches today. The blackberries were ripe and delicious.

Early July seems to be the perfect time to pick them. We had a bit of late season rain that likely helped them get ripe and juicy. And if we waited much longer, Iā€™m sure they would dry up. I spent a couple of hours over two days and ended up with two large bowls worth.

They are delicious. Smush them, cook them, and lightly sweeten with about 1/4 ratio of sugar leads to a nice jam.

Perfect for morning toast. ā€” KLM
