Spring Fawn

You never know what is around the next bend at the Ranch. Today, I was running the Upper Battle Creek Trail when I stumbled upon a newborn fawn. It couldn’t be more than a week old. It was so still that I thought it might not be alive. But when I got close, I could see it breathing slowly. With me just a few feet away, it did not move at all. I can’t believe Momma would have left it so exposed, so I’m assuming it wandered a bit from the brush. I’m sure the baby fawn will get a talking to when Momma gets back. — KLM
